The South Downs: Villages and Countryside

The South Downs: Villages and Countryside (1/2 day or full day)

Rolling countryside, unspoilt landscapes and far reaching views are hall marks of The South Downs. Nestled within this landscape are traditional villages and small market towns that are little changed at their core. The South Downs National Park stretches for 100 miles between Winchester and Eastbourne and this trip explores some of the lessor known and beautiful countryside in the Hampshire and West Sussex end of the Downs. This tour gives you an insight into the landscape and character of The South Downs and of the villages and towns within. This relatively unknown National Park has many beautiful vistas and unsurpassable countryside and gives an indication of life in a by-gone age. There are options to stop at various places depending on your interests.

All tour itineraries can be adjusted to suit your requirements.

A half day tour is available and covers part of the above itinerary either Winchester to Petersfield, returning via Chawton and Alresford, or Meon Valley and Petersfield to Goodwood, Petworth.

Typical Timing

Depart from your pick up place 8:30/9am to arrive in Winchester around 10am. Return journey departs the area at 5pm (or to suit your own itinerary).

Hampshire Downs Hostelries Tour

Tichborne Arms

A fabulous tour showcasing local historical pubs in the beautiful South Downs National Park. Each of the venues is an unspoilt hostelry, with the buildings mostly unchanged for over one hundred years or more. Some are accessed via narrow lanes so travel is by 16 passenger seat mini-coach. Experience these delightful pubs off the beaten track and savour delightful local award-winning beers (or try some local wines)!

New Forest - Half Day

new forest

Our trip takes in the best sights in the New Forest National Park. This ancient woodland was used by Henry VIII for hunting. It was also the place where William Rufus (next in line for King of England in 1088) was murdered.

Our trip takes in the lovely town of Lyndhurst where we stop for a browse round. We then travel on seeing Beaulieu, the yachting town of Lymington, and various delightful New Forest villages. Look out for the wild ponies and donkeys that are all across the area. There are stops for photo opportunities!

Typical Timings

Depart from your pick up point in time to arrive in the New Forest for 10am. Depart New Forest at 13:00.
